Who are the Women's Support Project

The Women's Support Project is a voluntary organisation and is recognised as a Scottish charity. We work on a range of issues, including domestic violence, rape and sexual assault, child sexual abuse and incest. Our work is informed by a feminist analysis of male violence and an understanding of the links and overlaps between different forms of violence, discrimination and oppression.

Aims of the Women's Support Project

To raise awareness of the extent and effects of violence against women and children, and work towards improved and positive services for women who have experienced violence, through:

Our support and information service is available during daytime by phone (0141 552 2221) and also by appointment.

Who uses our service

Our service is aimed principally at women who have experienced violence or sexual abuse, but we also have resources and information relating to men and boys affected by sexual abuse. The main user groups are survivors of violence, their family, friends and supporters.

We provide information, crisis and ongoing support for women whose children have been sexually abused. As a result of ongoing work we are now in contact with a network of women whose children have been abused. We can put women in touch with another mother who has been through a similar situation. We also organise occasional support events.

The Project acts as a resource for front line workers who are working with individual survivors, offering group work, or engaged in campaigning, policy development or research.

Multi agency working & networking

This is a significant feature of our work and we are involved in the following initiatives:
