Who can apply?
Comic Relief gives grants to voluntary organisations and self-help groups in Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland, with particular attention given to parts of the UK which often miss out on funding, especially towns and cities outside London, and rural areas. They welcome applications from small community projects and larger organisations.
Any work funded must be charitable and most of the funding goes to registered charities. However, you do not have to be a registered charity, as long as the work you are planning to do has charitable aims.
What level of grants are available
Average grant awarded in 2002 was £62,000 for a three year project. Generally trustees will not award grants of more than £90,000 over three years unless the work has a very significant effect or shows a new way of working.
Larger grants may be available under the Special Programme.
Application deadline
Deadlines for summary applications, full application deadlines and dates for decisions from the trustees can be found on the Comic Relief website.
